What is RSS

RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a worldwide standard for an XML news exchange (feeds) file format. In other words, it is a format for distributing information over the Internet, such as news items. By using RSS, you are immediately informed when items in which

you are interested are published, without having to navigate to the news site.
In order to view these news items, the users must download an RSS feed reader, also known as feed aggregator. The main feed reading software are FeedReader and InstantaNews. Some operating systems, such as Windows Vista, come with a reader.
